I learned firstly, what a performance appraisal interview is. I had no idea what this was beforehand. Evaluations are something that I learned can be extremely helpful to employees, especially in high stress jobs. During these evaluation interviews, employees are able to explain why they received scores they did and how they can improve on things. Typically, the person leading the interview is more seasoned. Therefore, they may be able to provide insight on how to better their performance. This opens up the interview as more of a learning or preceptor environment, rather than a harsh interrogation. I gained alot of insight and appreciation for this form of interviewing. I am actually really hoping that my own job applies it, as I’m sure they will.
